Comida By KEN is a supperclub in Maadi, Cairo. We sell seats at our dinners through this website, www.comidabyken.me. This page explains exactly what we collect when you book, why we need it, and who else sees it. It describes this website as it actually works — not a generic template.
The short version
- We collect what we need to seat you at a dinner and to contact you about it: your name, email, phone number and, if you pay by InstaPay, the screenshot of your transfer.
- There are no customer accounts on this site. You cannot register, and we do not store a password for you. Every booking is a guest checkout.
- We never see your card details. Card payments are handled inside Paymob’s own form.
- We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising or retargeting trackers, and there is no Google Analytics or Meta pixel on this site.
What we collect, and when
When you book a seat
The checkout asks for your first and last name, email address, phone number, and a billing address (street, city, governorate, postcode, country). We also record which dinner date you chose, how many seats, the amount, and which payment method you used.
We use this to hold your seat, to send you the confirmation, and to reach you if a dinner changes date or cannot go ahead. The phone number is the one we message on WhatsApp about your booking. The billing address is collected by our checkout software and is used for payment verification — nothing is shipped to you.
If you pay by InstaPay
InstaPay transfers happen inside your own banking app; we are not part of that transaction and we do not receive your bank credentials. What we do receive is the screenshot you upload as proof of payment. That image is stored on this website’s server and attached to your order so we can confirm the transfer against our account. Those screenshots often show your name and your own bank or wallet details, so please crop anything you would rather not send us.
If you pay by card
Card payments run through Paymob, an Egyptian payment processor. You enter your card number into Paymob’s own form embedded in our checkout page. Those details go directly to Paymob and never reach our server or our staff. We only receive back whether the payment succeeded, and the last digits and card type that Paymob passes to us.
If you write to us
Our contact form collects your name, email address, phone number, the reason you are writing and your message. If you email or message us on WhatsApp or Instagram instead, we keep that conversation the same way anyone keeps their messages.
If you subscribe to the newsletter
The newsletter is run on Mailchimp. Signing up stores your email address with them. Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you at their end and ours.
Automatically, as you browse
Our website statistics record your IP address, rough location, browser and device, which pages you looked at and where you arrived from. We use this to know which dinners get attention and whether the site is working — not to build a profile of you.
Cookies
Simply reading this site sets no cookies. Cookies appear when you start a booking:
woocommerce_items_in_cartandwoocommerce_cart_hash— remember that you have a seat held, so your selection survives moving between pages.- A WooCommerce session cookie — links your browser to your in-progress booking until you finish or abandon it.
Our statistics and newsletter tools set their own cookies for the purposes described above. None of the cookies on this site are used for advertising.
Who else sees your information
We share the minimum needed to run the dinners, and only with these companies:
- Paymob Solutions (Egypt) — processes card payments. Receives your card details directly, plus your name, email and phone for the transaction.
- Twilio SendGrid (United States) — delivers our automated emails. Handles your email address and the content of your booking confirmation.
- Intuit Mailchimp (United States) — runs the newsletter. Holds your email address if you subscribed.
- Automattic (United States) — provides our website statistics and store analytics. Receives your IP address and browsing activity on this site.
- Google (United States) — supplies the web fonts used on our checkout page. Loading a font sends your IP address to Google.
- FastComet — hosts this website. Our server is located in Mumbai, India, which is where your booking information is physically stored.
Beyond these, we disclose information only if we are legally required to. We do not sell it, rent it, or trade it, and we do not pass it to advertisers.
How long we keep it
- Bookings and payment records — kept for our accounting and tax records.
- InstaPay payment screenshots — kept with the order they belong to.
- Contact form messages — kept while the conversation is useful, then deleted.
- Newsletter subscribers — kept until you unsubscribe.
- Website statistics — kept in aggregate; they are not tied to your booking.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, or delete it. Email ken@comidabyken.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you ask us to delete a booking we may have to keep the financial record of it, because Egyptian tax law requires that — we will tell you if that applies.
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any newsletter, without affecting your bookings.
We operate from Egypt and handle personal data under Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 151 of 2020). If you are in the EU or UK, we also honour access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and portability requests under the GDPR — email us using the same address.
Children
Our dinners and this website are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we will remove them.
Changes to this policy
If we add a tool that collects something new, or drop one that we have named here, we will update this page and change the date at the top. We will not quietly start collecting more than what is listed above.
